James Bond is a psychopath, according to expert Kevin Dutton.
32:38-34:15 focuses on Craig!Bond in particular.
Oh my god the 00Silva would be so beautiful.
I actually disagree with him wholeheartedly. Remember the second Bond’s kill in Casino Royale, when he is asked about his first murder “Made you feel it, didn’t he?’ Bond is quite the typical male protagonist, fighting a typical battle between what he should feel and what he actually feels. The whole point of Skyfall is that he feels too much, mostly for M (“you still keep your faith in that old woman when all she does is lie to you”) but even for R.S. in a way. His psychology test answers are clear indicators of his short temper and, much like it was put in the report, of a childhood trauma and his frequent refusal to follow direct orders. Psychopaths do not have empathy, not at all. They don’t need to battle with their emotions or to consciously shut them down.
It’s not a case of “all or nothing” though. I didn’t really take his interview scene in Skyfall as a display of psychopathic traits (he was just bullshitting the interviewer because he wanted to get out of there) but I do think that Bond would rank much higher on the psychopathic scale than “regular” people (as would more employees of MI6, probably).
Bond can make hard, callous decisions under pressure. He has no qualms about killing bad guys. He’s thrill seeker, he’s charming, he exhibits extreme promiscuous sexual behavior (with the exception of Vesper Lynd).
He’s definitely not a full-blown psychopath, his love for her and his guilt over her death and M’s negate that. But on a scale of 0-40, I would easily place him around 25-30.
Never forget that you are the protagonist of your own story
and the antagonist of someone else’s!
And a possible love interest in some other peoples! 0u0
This might just be the single most inspiration thing I have ever seen on the internet.
You are also a supporting character to a lots of people’s stories. You might even be the kind stranger who unintentionally turns someone’s life around for the better.
Week 29: Avocado Ice Cream
Book: Good Eats: The Middle Years
Episode: Curious Yet Tasty Avocado Experiment S09E11
Why yes, that is a tupperware filled with green goo. Said green goo just happens to be some avocado ice cream I made last night. Fun fact: this recipe almost didn’t happen because the morning I took the avocados out of my pantry, they were far too mushy and there was white fuzzy stuff growing on it. Ew.
I went out to get new ones but the store didn’t sell a single ripe avocado so I bought under ripe specimens. I tried ripening them in the oven (I found a video online) and it sorta kinda worked but not really. I had to use just the outer flesh, throwing away a large percentage of all three fruits.
But I was determined to make this thing so I gathered my 12 ounces, blended away, and poured it into the ice cream maker. The finished product was…. Well, quite frankly, I can’t decide if I like it or not. I think I would like it a lot more if the avocados were fully matured but the mixture also coated my tongue in a rather slick way. I assume that that is from the cup of heavy cream but I can’t tell for sure.
I’d like to do this recipe over again sometime soon. For now I’d say this one was a mild success.
